feng shui, holds that to attract good fortune, the display of a generous open bowl, preferably with an element of gold, is prescribed. Our wealth bowl’s wide proportions and gilded rim satisfy these wealth-attracting requirements in elegant fashion.

A lively dragon, based on an example found on the skirt of a Daoguang reign (1820 - 1850) semi formal imperial robe, swirls across the 24K gilded central medallion of the 2024 edition wealth bowl, surrounded by a frieze of the twelve animals engaged in the Great Race.

A crimson composite resin display stand incised with stylised waves, rocks and clouds is included.

Folk tales recount the oriental zodiac’s origins with the story of the Great Race, called by the deity the Jade Emperor to assign each year in the 12-year cycle an animal in the order they reached him by crossing a river. First past the post was the Rat, then the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.
