Valid from 26 Apr 2024 - 12 May 2024

This cuvée is the quintessence of our terroirs and know-how, and is produced solely in exceptional years. The Grenache grapes come from the oldest parcel of the “Domaine de la Solitude”, situated on the western slope leading up to the “La Crau” plateau, on a terroir of Safres. The Syrah grapes are grown in the cool, Safres terroir of “Les Blachières”. This flavoursome cuvée with a richly smooth texture is aged for 18 months, shared between barrels and vats, before being blended and left to age for another year in a large wooden vat called foudre.

La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, whose roots go back to the 15th century. Today the Estate is managed by Florent Lançon, who represents the eighth generation and continues to uphold the family values. Here, in an environment in which every living thing has a role to play: the wildlife and natural vegetation, the vines, and the people. A great wine is created by the vines, without artifice, and tells the story of their setting.

Tasting Notes:
A full-bodied, elegant and refined wine, tannic whilst remaining velvety smooth with sweet black fruit, dark chocolate and minerals, finishing very long on the palate.

Grape Varietal(s):
Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre

Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):

“Made from 75% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, the classic 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape la Reserve Secrete is a full-bodied, concentrated, tannic and almost austere wine that has lots of graphite, asphalt, licorice and chocolate aromas and flavors. Straight, structured, classic and focused are all the buzz words here, and it has budged a bit since release. Forget it for 3-4 years and it will have 15+ years or more of longevity.” – Wine Advocate, 92 points

“A dense, brooding style, with a whiff of reduction that blows off quickly to reveal black currant, dark plum and braised fig fruit flavors laced with espresso, licorice root, loam and graphite. The very dense finish is loaded with blackberry confiture and graphite notes, and will need some time to stretch out fully. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Best from 2010 through 2030. 250 cases made.” – Wine Spectator, 95 points
