Nothing ever compares with your first love. Especially when that love began through fate, a stolen glimpse through the trees. Might it have been destiny that steered Dominik Huber and his motorbike through the twisting and mountainous dirt roads to the tiny, 2-ha Les Tosses plot. It was also love at first sight. Inspired by a cellar approach from the far-flung cool and fog-laden Burgundy hills, this wine is hand harvested, with whole cluster native fermentation, and then aged for 8 months in cement tanks.

Terroir al Limit is inspired by the Burgundian approach to terroir. Founder Dominik Huber aims to identify unique places in the Priorat, then do everything possible to manifest them in each bottle as authentically as possible. Nothing should mask the true character of the soils: not the oak, not the extraction, not the over-ripeness of the grapes. Only pure, mineral-rich fruit is used. Dominik’s quest is to make the most elegant and expressive wines in the whole of Priorat. He is well on his way!
Tasting Notes:
Like the dusty, sun baked hills of Torroja in which it grows, there is a rugged, raw power to this wine. Opulent black fruits and rich aromas of smoke and spice swirl in the nearly black depths of the glass. Despite the initial hint of brawn, a serious, thoughtful character emerges with a bright, taut acidity and incredible momentum. Each sip becomes a mesmerizing whirlwind of the delicious power and energy, intensity and beauty that accompany any true infatuation.

“The top Cariñena 2017 Les Tosses is a little riper than the 2018 I tasted next to it, but it also has a little more acidity and freshness and comes through as equally balanced. This south-facing vineyard was planted 90 years ago on black slate soils, and its orientations makes the grapes ripen thoroughly and achieve full flavors. Seventy percent of the volume still matured in oak foudres, but this percentage is going to go down to 50% in 2018; eventually, the wine will be aged exclusively in concrete, as is the case with all of their wines. This is expressive and tasty, and it has elegance and freshness within its serious profile. It's very balanced and has a mixture of floral, red and black fruit with some graphite quality and a Mediterranean touch of herbs, even esparto grass. 2,800 bottles were filled in October 2019.” – Wine Advocate, 97 points
“This is very typical for a very top Priorat with firm yet plush tannins and plenty of blue-fruit, walnut, underbrush and dark-mushroom character. It’s full-bodied with polished tannins and excellent length. Persistence and character here. Drink after 2021.” – James Suckling, 96 points
