ARZUAGA GRAN ARZUAGA 2018 [BUY ANY 2 GET 15% OFF]

Valid from 26 Apr 2024 - 12 May 2024

This wine is an unusual coupage: a blend of Tempranillo and Albillo (from vines more than 100 years old grown in red clay and fine sand soil with surface pebbles) with Cabernet Sauvignon (from our La Planta estate in soil with so much limestone it is almost impossible to grow vines). A minimal, almost paltry yield and a very long vegetative cycle help these grapes ripen fully, offering a legendary balance.

The Arzuaga winery is in Valladolid, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. The wines come from La Planta, an estate belonging to the Arzuaga family in Quintanilla de Onésimo, in the province of Valladolid. This is an excellent location for vine-growing, as the plants receive the sun and moisture, they need for the grapes to ripen perfectly. There can be no doubt that Arzuaga wines are made based on three premises: the soil, the climate and the orientation of the vineyards.

Tasting Notes:
The wine has a bright cherry red color with violet rims. Great aromatic complexity. In the first place, the primary aromas of red fruits such as blackberry predominate, herbaceous and floral touches that give way to tertiary aromas where balsamic and spicy aromas stand out. Creamy and silky wine. With a fresh entry in the mouth that quickly becomes meaty and unctuous in its passage through the mouth. In retronasal we once again have an enormous aromatic complexity, remembering everything that it showed us in the olfactory phase.

Grape Varietal(s):
Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon

Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“Generous, full-bodied and flavorful with notes of spiced plums, coconuts, grilled rosemary, coffee and cassis. Gorgeously supple and plush, with well-integrated tannins and a tasty, savory finish. Tinto fino and albillo. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling, 94 points
