The Arzuaga winery is in Valladolid, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. The wines come from La Planta, an estate belonging to the Arzuaga family in Quintanilla de Onésimo, in the province of Valladolid. This is an excellent location for vine-growing, as the plants receive the sun and moisture, they need for the grapes to ripen perfectly. There can be no doubt that Arzuaga wines are made based on three premises: the soil, the climate and
the orientation of the vineyards.
Tasting Notes:
Clean and bright. Dark cherry colour with purple flashes. Powerful nose, high aromatic diversity, with a predominance of ripe red and black fruits with spicy touches and balsamic notes with a roasted finish. Large volume in the mouth passage providing soft and mellow sensations that last over time thanks to its great fruitiness amplitude and length. The wine in the mouth is a faithful reflection of such a complex nose. These connotations give wine elegance and personality.
Grape Varietal(s):
Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon
Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“A mixture of black and red fruits with sweet cinnamon spices and a balsamic edge. Some mussels and stones, as well. Medium to full body on the palate with mineral, chalky tannins and a juicy finish. Pretty seamless and long. Drinkable now, but better in two years.” – James Suckling, 92 points
“The 2020 Crianza is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero and was aged for 16 months, 75% in French oak casks and 25% in American oak. Garnet-red in hue. The nose features strawberry, plum, undergrowth, herbs, cedar and vanilla notes. The dry and ample palate shows mild tannins and a velvety oak texture that leads to a long-lasting finish.” – Antonio Galloni, 91 points
