Home, Beauty and Accessory Trends in 2022

14 January 2022

Embrace the new year with these beauty, jewellery and home décor trends.

By now, most of us would have gotten used to the ‘new normal’. And as the world moves forward in this endemic era, add a little positivity into your life with these 2022 trends in fashion, beauty and home décor.

Bring Back Your Bling
Jewellery trends: stacking bracelets, necklaces, and the signet cocktail ring.

It’s a good time to bring back some bling this new year. Afterall, life has been a bit lacklustre lately, no thanks to the pandemic. In their 2022 jewellery trend report, British fashion magazine Who What Wear observed that there was a rise in people spending on good quality jewellery for everyday wear. Translated: Add more fashion accessories to your closet.

For starters, stacked bracelets are back. But instead of the heavily bejewelled bangles sported by celebs in the 2010s, opt for timeless yet quality pieces. The latter will prove to be more wearable as we start adapting to our hybrid lifestyle of switching between working from home and the office.

To get started, search for a versatile piece that blends well with any bracelet stack. [In]Trigue’s Reminisce Ixora charm bracelet in rose gold has a delicate band and minimal embellishments.

And if you want to add pieces of various size to your stack, check out the Protesta 30mm Ruler Brass Bracelet and 3mm Ruler Brass Bracelet for modern cuffs.

Now that you’ve got your arm candy sorted, another jewellery trend to adopt would be to wear a minimum of three necklaces of varying lengths at a time. There is a catch though; each necklace should be fine and thin to enhance the look of your neck and décolletage.

The versatile Eden + Elie Everyday Adjustable Length Necklace features three intricate pendants made out of delica beads in 24K karat gold is a must-have if you’re looking for modern pieces to add to your stack.

Take your outfit from day to night by adding Marilyn Tan’s MTJ Pearl Wrap Medium Necklace (left) and Swarovski’s Symbolic Pendant (right) to your stack.

Heirloom pieces are also resurfacing, in particular, the signet cocktail ring. Historically, signet rings were worn mostly by men in positions of power. The rings would traditionally be engraved with the wearers’ family crests. The engraved crest on the ring was also used to leave an identifying mark, like a signature, on sealing wax for important missives and documents.

Jewellery designers like David Yurman, Jessica Biales and Foundrae have re-invented the traditional signet ring design. Think: Precious stone-encrusted pieces and sleek metal pieces with no engraving. If you’re looking for a piece to own, and perhaps pass down to your children, the stunning  State Property Aebi Signet Ring is perfect for you. The 18k yellow gold ring is a showstopper with a solitaire emerald that sits on a deep, black onyx face, with champagne diamonds encircling it.

No-Filter Beauty
Makeup and skincare trends: statement blush, vibrant red lips, intensive skincare products.

Hiding behind our video-off screens on Zoom may have resulted in some of us neglecting our daily makeup and skincare. With more social spaces opening, it’s good to be prepared to meet in person if the opportunity arises. When that happens, you’ll want to look snatched, so get ready to step up with your skincare routine and shore up your makeup stash.

Having been mask-ed up for so long, many are choosing to let their skin ‘breathe’. Foundations and powders are currently taking a backseat in this year’s beauty trends. But an amped up skincare routine remains a must, so says international fashion and beauty publication Harper’s Bazaar in their 2022 beauty trend predictions. This means adding specific treatment products that target radiance into your basic cleanse-tone-moisturise routine.

Your regime this year can start with something glow-enhancing like the Re-Erth Multi-Targeted Elixir that will complement deep-cleansing, gentle exfoliation and hydration. The Re-Erth Elixir is potent but lightweight, and absorbs into the skin in 10 seconds with no residue. This multi-benefit serum not only rejuvenates tired skin and refines pores, but it also diminishes dark spots, evens out the skin tone and brings a youthful luminosity to the skin.

If your skin has been looking a little dull lately, the Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask Ex Duo is the mask for you. This overnight mask is formulated with traditional Korean medicinal herbs that provide hydration while you sleep, so that you’ll awaken with plump and dewy skin the next morning.

Looking naturally flushed and healthy is the look you want to go for this 2022. And a good blush is your best bet to getting the post-workout flush without breaking a sweat. A statement blush like Pur Skin Perfecting Powder – Blushing Act – Pretty in Peach, which is buildable and matte, blends into complexions easily and compliments all skin tones, leaving the wearer looking naturally rosy-cheeked.

Lipstick may have taken a backseat especially with the mask wearing, but don’t put them away just yet. You can still confidently sport a bold lip because deep and dark colours like burgundy and black are making a comeback. In order to obtain the right shade, you may need to experiment with layering and mixing colours.

Mix Ange Gardien Paris Matte For Glitter Lipstick in 301 Kiss Bliss, a strong mauve with a touch of sparkle for extra drama, with Liht Organics Color-Intense Liquid Lipstick in Sangria, a creamy gloss that’ll add a nice glow to it. The result will be a strong yet feminine shade that will take you through both day and night.

Sophisticated Home Style
Home décor trends: coloured walls, elevated home office and a touch of texture.

A vibrant addition to have in your home this 2022 is the coloured wall. But to keep things balanced, you should only have one per room, so it would really pop and ensure that the colour doesn’t overwhelm.

Elevated home offices are staying put according to Insider’s 2022 home décor trend report. Keep your home office looking fresh with functional yet stylish furniture - that way, you may be less likely to burnout.

For those who spend most of the time sitting down, you may want to consider switching your worktable for the Ergoworks Sit-Stand-Tilt and Foldable Desk. The compact and lightweight desk not only allows you to adjust your work-stance (sitting or standing), but it is also portable. This means that you can bring your workspace out to your balcony for some fresh air if you need to.

Another way to refresh your space is to experiment with different textures. This will ensure that you keep your home décor up to date. The Scene Shang Teng Lounge Chair offers the perfect textured tactile and visual touches. This lounge chair is made of handwoven fabric, and its light yet sturdy metal frame is inspired by the traditional Chinese Arch Gates.

The Momiji Kids Pear Basket in natural rattan will weave a different sort of texture into your home. This versatile storage basket, which also comes in the shape of a pineapple, provides a stylish storage for your children’s toys, laundry and more. It comes with a removable washable lining and is handcrafted by artisans from Indonesia using traditional techniques.
