CHATEAU MANGOT - SAINT EMILION GRAND CRU - 2018
This cru, from the St Emilion Grand Cru appellation, is a faithful portrait of our 4 terroirs spread between the foot of the slopes, slopes, terraces and plateaux.
The 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon blend is also representative of the 21 plots that make up our vineyards.
After tasting the grapes, we harvest them plot by plot according to grape variety, but also and above all according to terroir, altitude, exposure and age of the vines.
The aim: to express as many facets as possible of the 21 Mangot plots!
Vinification batch by batch enables us to adapt the extraction process (pumping over, rack and return), making it possible to respect the integrity, style and personality of each grape. The fermentation tanks each correspond to one terroir/one grape variety, and they are carefully isolated after pressing for the malolactic fermentation stage.
Maturing in the barrel is also adapted to each batch. Once again, the aim is to respect the fruit and original varietal character of the grapes. The barrels will accentuate and bring out the character of the wine and the terroir without lessening its expression with exogenous scents and aromas.
A continual job of tasting goes on over 2 years, from the grapes to the wine, to arrive at the best possible blend.

Tasting Notes
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Mangot is a little closed to begin, unfurling to show off bright blackberry, crushed blueberries, and warm plums scents plus notions of lilacs and cedar. Full-bodied and laden with layers of pure, vibrant black and blue fruits, it has a firm, rounded tannin texture and long, refreshing finish.
