LOUISE HILL DESIGN 'SINGAPORE TYPOGRAPHIC' -IN ROLLED ETCHING PAPER
- Net Weight
- 1.50 kg
The little boy and girl playing ping pong appear on some tea cups that Louise had in her studio, the beaded slippers a photo taken through a shop window in Joo Chiat. Two mischievous little white rabbits from an old vintage tin are playfully towing a basket on wheels full of ‘White Rabbit’ milk sweets past a couple of traditional plastic outdoor chairs. She also added a few references to some of Singapore’s favourite foods with a bowl of Laksa, the well loved chilli crab and the delicious Peranakan treat - ‘kueh pie tee’ or ‘top hats’ as they are affectionately known - little bites bursting with a blend of Chinese and Malay flavours.
At the top of the design are fringes of embroidered ribbon and brocade photographed hanging above an old wedding day bed which Louise had adorned with tiny ‘iced gem biscuits’ for a little fun! She used to live in an old shophouse on Koon Seng Road and have added some of the houses from the old street which are very famous for their architectural style and colours. There are many fun references in this design that celebrate her love for our ‘Little Red Dot’ with a hint of vintage nostalgia.
