Bushido Series Whisky is known for bringing highly sought after Japanese whiskies to the market. This time in the form of a 15-year-old pure malt. You'll experience flavors mirroring REI pure malt but intensified. Explosions of tropical fruit, especially pineapple, from the start, then gentle oak from the 15 years spent in ex-bourbon casks, and a finish of smoothness with little to no burn.

MEIYO 15 PURE MALT - 0.75 L
- Product Weight
- 6 kg
Meiyo 15 is a Japanese pure malt, crafted to perfection with traditional techniques that made the entire category of Japanese whisky famous around the world. After distillation using locally sourced raw materials, our whisky is then aged for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks. At 15 years old this specific spirit reached a peak flavor profile we were searching for, you’ll experience tremendous fruity notes, especially pineapple, and smooth finishes with gentle oak at the end from the time spent in oak barrels. This is a special whisky, made for only the most special occasions with only 3,000 bottles of Meiyo 15 every being produced. Once these 3,000 bottles are gone, they will never come back, so this is truly a once in a lifetime experience.
Tasting notes from the newest 2021 Edition of Whisky Bible: one of the most fragile 15-year-old whiskies you will encounter; having spent this time in Japan it is even more remarkable. The squeeze of grapefruit is as about as showy as this aroma gets. The rest of the time it is the house style of malt and oaky vanillas mingling with uncommon elegance; this is melt-in-the-mouth malt: you don’t have to do anything other than letting the barley caress the contours of your palate and the tannins generate enough spice to offer a teasing thrill. The balance between the sweetness of the barley and drier tannins does its best to reach perfection; despite the lack of oils, the malt and vanillas combine with something approaching joint respect; just like its sister malt, Rei, here is a whisky that celebrates the art of blending and at every point seeks balance and symmetry. Another whisky not to be drunk with company: it deserves silence so you can benefit from the blender’s skills and just allow the charm of this majestically understated whisky to gently wash over you.
