Tasting notes from the newest 2021 Edition of Whisky Bible: the barley and gentle tannin are like lovers pressing hands and fingers together; so soft. So silky. So gentle. There appears to be the shadow of a hint of smoke, but this drifts away with the subtle vanillas; still a lingering gristy tone from the barley and still a caress from the post polite oak; very impressed with this malt. Not just for what it is, but for what it doesn’t try to be. This is all about balance and elegance. And too rarely that is the case these days. No dominant features. And nothing being crushed or bullied, either. A very quiet treat; one I could enjoy any time of the day but especially before a meal.
