E. Guigal is one of the most notable wine producers in the Rhône Valley. Guigal has a long history of winegrowing, and today the company hold plots throughout the nothern and southern Rhône and produces wines from classic northern Rhône and Mediterranean varieties including Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier and Roussanne, although the focus has always been on Syrah and the Côte Rôtie.
Tasting Notes
Expert tasting note: "Darkly pigmented, medium to deep ruby-red with slight purple notes on the rim. The aromas are savory. Spicy red-fruits on the nose are peppery, toasty, cedary & have a meaty aspect. On the palate mulberry & loganberry fruit has savory/meaty overtones. The wine is full-bodied with a core of licorice, black-olive & leather fruit. Plentiful tannins give some grip but are balanced by ripe fruit. Warming alcohol leaves the finish with pepper & cedar notes. Flavours are very long." - 08/22 DCAMW
