Has 2020 Changed Your Personality?

17 December 2020

How have your personality evolved over the past 12 months? Find out about the seven personalities that have emerged this year and discover which tribe you belong to.

The year of the global pandemic has turned us all into different people so forget what your other personality tests have revealed about you. Chances are, you might have noticed yourself developing new traits and enjoying hobbies that you never imagined you would enjoy. Check out these 7 personality types to see which one you identify with the most.

The Wanderlust Dreamer

From shopping sprees in Paris to eating gelato in Italy and frolicking on Bali’s sun-kissed beaches, your life was a whirlwind of globetrotting adventures. This year, your wings may have been temporarily clipped but that will not stop you from reliving that sense of awe and wonder you feel when you travel. This is why you are all about posting a carefully curated #throwback photograph at least once a week to show everyone you miss exploring the world.

You are eagerly anticipating the day when borders open up and travel bubbles form so that you can book yourself on the first flight out and whisk yourself off on a long awaited trip. When this is all over, you are definitely getting back to your jetset life ASAP.

The Plant Parent

During the lockdown, spurred by the urge to care for another living thing, you decided to buy a plant to keep you company at home. As you showered all your tender loving care on your new green baby, you noticed the feelings of isolation gradually lessening. Before you know it, that one pot of plant became two, then three and now your balcony is overflowing with too many greens to count.

Now, your daily routine involves waking up early to mindfully mist your precious plants before starting the day. Your Instagram stories are mostly filled with #jungalow posts and urgent questions to your plant parent tribe about how to care for the latest addition to your beloved home garden.

The Homebody

If you are to be entirely honest, life before the pandemic was exhausting you with the constant stream of social and work commitments and obligations to make small talk with anyone and everyone you meet. So, you probably not-so-secretly loved your time in lockdown as it gave you an excuse to fully embrace the joy of missing out on human interactions and social activities. Instead, you spent your days reading, gaming and bingeing on Netflix shows - basically enjoying your own company. With so much to do, how can anybody be bored at home?

Not surprisingly, many Homebodies are introverts. However, some extroverts have also discovered their stay-home leanings after experiencing the healing benefits of solitude.

The Home Masterchef

In the days before Covid, you barely spent any time in your kitchen and probably used your oven for extra storage space. But when the lockdowns were announced and you had nowhere else to go, you suddenly discovered how much satisfaction you can derive from perfecting a recipe. Plus, cooking and baking for your loved ones and friends is such a great way of showing them you care in a time of social distancing.

From reviving all-time favourites like brownies and roasts to experimenting with new recipes like Basque cheesecakes, sourdough bread and making pasta from scratch, you have pretty much turned into your own Martha Stewart. You are now an expert on styling the perfect food flatlays and naturally, sharing your recipes and step-by-step cooking guides on social media too.

The Virtual Warrior

Socialising in person had to be put on hold during the pandemic but you did not let that stop you from finding ways to keep in touch virtually. You are the undisputed boss of filling out everyone’s social calendar and keeping your friends and family entertained during those lonely nights of isolation.

From Zoom happy hours to House Party sessions, Among Us games and online Netflix movie nights, you always have something different up your sleeve. You may consider your themed online Halloween dress-up bash with friends living in different time zones as one of your greatest party planning achievements.

The Fitness Guru

Pre-breakfast yoga, virtual HIIT workouts at lunchtime, Instagram push-up challenges, and frequent hikes in the parks - you have done it all in 2020. After years of not paying enough attention to your fitness because of your hectic job, you took the lockdown as an opportunity to finally live your best #fitspo life. Not to mention, you looove wearing activewear all day thanks to WFH (work from home) arrangements.

Your enthusiasm for keeping fit has also inspired your friends and colleagues to head outdoors for a spot of fresh air and to sneak in a quick daily jog for some much needed cardio. Your new year’s resolution for 2021 is to start leading your own online workouts to motivate even more people to take care of their health.

The Shopaholic & Generous Gifter

There may not be a cure for the coronavirus yet. But at least, you know there is a tried and tested cure for pandemic blues – retail therapy.

This is why you have no qualms spending hours clicking away on your laptop for the best finds. Every day, you eagerly anticipate the sound of your doorbell ringing so you can receive your next package. You are also the generous gem that loves surprising your friends with gifts of food, cakes or freshly brewed coffee delivered to their doorstep because you know it is more blessed to give than to receive.
