About Misha's Vineyard

Misha's Vineyard - Naming the Wines

Misha Wilkinson, owner of Misha's Vineyard, talks to wine critic and how the names of the Misha's Vineyard wines came about. Misha trained as a ballerina and her mother, Gloria McDonall, was a professional opera singer. In fact Misha danced with the Australian Opera when her mum Gloria was singing with the company.

Misha's musical background has been the inspiration for the names of the Misha's Vineyard wines.

Simply spectacular

“Misha and Andy Wilkinson planted one of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots in Bendigo on slopes leading down to Lake Dunstan, to produce their heart ’s passion: top quality Riesling and Pinot Noir.”

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW (Wine Advocate)

An auspicious location

Planted on a rugged site once inhabited by goldminers seeking their fortune in the late 1800s, Misha's Vineyard has many remnants of a tough existence in the most southern goldfields in the world.

Located on State Highway 8, just 8 kilometres from the nearest town, the number 8 has always played a key role in the evolution of Misha's Vineyard - from the first 8 vines planted in a ceremonial ground-breaking to the wine label that celebrates 8 bunches of 'new gold'.

With an auspicious feng shui 'horseshoe' location, the balance of wind and water on the vineyard and the relationship between the vineyard and its surrounding landforms, brings a sense of calm and balance.

Hand-in-hand with nature

Misha’s Vineyard was established with a 'no compromise' philosophy which requires an exacting viticulture regime, hand-picking and considerate winemaking.

The 57-hectare single-vineyard estate is sustainably farmed and a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. Misha's Vineyard is also part of the New Zealand FernMark program, endorsed by the New Zealand Government. This symbol is a mark of trust that communicates our authenticity and embodies our values - the values of our New Zealand story.
